- Prepare your skin, make sure you exfoliate your skin with an oil free product, preferably for a full week prior to your spray tan. This will gently remove any dead skin cells and will help to create a longer lasting tan. As your skin sheds your tan will fade (fake or natural) so by removing these dead skin cells initially before your spray tan it will help to prolong it. Pay particular attention to elbows, knees and feet.
– After every exfoliation ensure you moisturise again paying particular attention to elbows, knees and feet. The spray tan will look darker on any dry areas.
– Shave 24 hours before your spray tan. Shaving opens up the pores, spray tan can collect in these pores
and produce a spotting effect, so to reduce the chances of this it’s best to shave at least 24 hours in advance.
– Eight hours prior to your spray tan, shower but do not apply oils or moisturiser to your skin unless you have very dry skin as this can create a barrier.
–Immediately prior to your spray tan remove deodorant, perfumes and make-up and moisturise dry areas such as elbows, knees, feet and heels.
– Wear loose fitting clothing so you have no marks from socks, jeans etc. as the spray tan may look darker on these areas. Since you’re in the comfort of your own home a dressing gown would be perfect.
